Édouard Naville
From ArchaeoWiki
Henri Édouard Naville (Geneva, 14 June 1844—1926) was a Swiss archaeologist and Egyptologist, Professor at the University of Geneva, and probably best known for his work on behalf of the London-based Egypt Exploration Fund.
On behalf of the EEF, Naville started excavation of the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari in 1893, continuing his work into 1896. At this important site, Naville was ably assisted by D.G. Hogarth, Somers Clarke and the young Howard Carter (the latter responsible for recording the reliefs and inscriptions).
