(Redirected from Gerasa)
Jerash (Arabic: جرش)—known also by the ancient form of its name, Gerasa—forms an extensive archaeological site some 48 km (30 miles) north of Amman in the present-day kingdom of Jordan. One of the cities of the ancient Decapolis, a league of Hellenistic cities mostly located in the Transjordan, Jerash now represents one of the best-preserved cities of the Roman Near East.
