Nephthys (Greek, Egyptian nb.t-ḥt, Nebet-hut, "mistress of the mansion") was an ancient Egyptian funerary deity and part of the Great Ennead of Heliopolis.

Origins and Mythology

Although part of the Great Ennead of Heliopolis, nothing is known about the origins of Nephthys before her inclusion in this important grouping. As such, she was considered the sister of Osiris, Seth and Isis, born to their parents Geb and Nut. One of the four deities at the centre of the Osiris mythology, Nephthys was frequently regarded as the partner of Seth, just as Isis was considered the wife of Osiris.
