Orbis Biblicus et Orientalis is a prestigious Swiss publication series published by Susanne Bickel, Othmar Keel and Christoph Uehlinger on behalf of the Department of Biblical Studies of the University of Fribourg Switzerland, the Egyptological Seminar of the University of Basle, the Institute for Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology and Languages of the University of Berne and the Swiss Society for Ancient Near Eastern Studies.
Founded in 1971, the OBO and OBO.SA series include studies in the following fields:
- Hebrew Bible: exegesis, text history, history of research
- Ancient Near Eastern iconography, especially glyptics and other miniature art
- Egyptology
- Assyriology
- history of the Ancient Near East, especially the Levant
- archaeology and epigraphy of the Levant
