Phoenicia

Phoenicia is a common designation for lands adjoining the east Mediterranean coastline, largely within the borders of the present-day republic of Lebanon, but also extending southwards into northern Israel.

Origins of the Term
Probably derived from Egyptian Fnḫw, Fenkhu, later adopted by the Greeks who called the land Φοινίκη, Phoiníkē
