A rock-carved Stela of Ramesses II, dated to his Year 4, appears on the headland above the mouth of the Nahr el-Kalb (the Dog River), some 13 km north of Beirut on the Mediterranean coast of present-day Lebanon.

Occasionally designated the "Middle Stela", this particular stela represents one of three erected by Ramesses II at Nahr el-Kalb, each of which has been rendered largely illegible by weathering of the limestone surface (the so-called "North Stela" was additional vandalised in the period 1860-1861).

Fortunately, the stela retains its dateline, together with elements of the royal titulary: Regnal Year 4, fourth month of Akhet, Day 2.

Nothing else of historical interest has been preserved.
