The Syrian Arab Republic (Arabic: الجمهورية العربية السورية), commonly referred to as Syria (Arabic: سوريا), is a country in the Near East. It borders Lebanon and Israel to the south-west, Jordan to the south, Iraq to the east, and Turkey to the north.
