Thutmose IV was the eighth ruler of the Eighteenth Dynasty.

Relations with Nubia

Whilst no clear evidence exists for military activity in Nubia during the reign of Thutmose IV, the Konosso Stela (carved on a rock face south of Aswan) does describe a journey by Thutmose through the routes leading to the gold mines east of Edfu. The pharaoh's presence in this region may suggest that Nubian interference had been experienced with the gold transports, perhaps way-laying them from desert hiding places. As the expedition completed at Konosso, it is likely that Thutmose IV returned via the Wadi el-Hudi. Overall, a police action against threats to desert transportation seems to be described in this account, rather than any major military action.
