The name Ugarit could mean, alternatively or simultaneously:

  • the important Late Bronze Age kingdom of Ugarit, as mentioned in a large number of contemporaneous cuneiform and other texts
  • the archaeological site of Ras Shamra, the remains of the capital and primary settlement of the kingdom of Ugarit; also closely associated with its harbour and port settlement at Minet el-Beida
