Observations
Yarimuta was supervised by the pharaonic official Yanḫamu, either an Egyptian with a West Semitic name or an assimilated Canaanite. On occasion, vassal princes such as the ruler of Beruta could be called upon to act as caretaker of the grain stores therein [Morris 2005:229].
Yanḫamu apparently possessed a "house" in Yarimuta (perhaps a residency or palace) in which Canaanite subjects could be detained against their will [EA 83].
